Cynthia

Further along the journey, as the protagonist moves between shrines, a girl of the common folk joins the group. Her internal parasite died on its own, leaving her somewhat apathetic. She is suspicious of the "smoke," is wary of the protagonist, and is convinced everyone around her has gone mad - yet she has nowhere else to turn. She serves as the group's cynical reality check.
